Although raised in Tampa Florida, Khia was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This Energetic, Passionate and bold songwriter, has her own genuine brand of music. Defined as the female Too-Short but this already radio friendly 5-alarm blaze album, which started with a slow methodical smoldering, is now a raging fire. "Thug Misses" was originally, released as an independent, with DJ, producer and her best friend Don Juan. A ghostwriter for other groups until Khia, endlessly crafting her skills that Thug Misses album flowed effortlessly, recording it in just one day's time. While being one of the few representatives for assertive sistas demanding sexual satisfaction. Khia presents those confident lyrics across Southern and body-snapping Miami-Bass beats for everyone in the club, this is the ladies summer anthem of the year (whereas there are a number of ladies anthems on this album).
Despite the style and success of her first single, Khia's album possesses
content, which is more introspective. Khia is quick to note that, ''My Neck
My Back" is moreso the summer song, makin-me-feel-good stuff for the house party, BBQ by the pool. "Thug Misses is more than just "My Neck My Back" the music is me, a variety of sounds for various people, guys, girls, black, white, it's real and it roars." as she continues, "it's got a little thug, but it's got some real sit back and listen to stuff."
"Some of those thug elements she's referring to are Jealous Girls and Fu-k
Them Other Hoes, where she held her grou
nd confronting those everyday, he said she said, hater games. Both songs layered over quality bounce
production. Verses tracks like, You My Girl and We Were Meant To Be are the introspect songs, these self explanatory titles, both featuring Markus Vance lacing harmonious vocals on southern influenced R&B tracks.
Strengths of the albums; a good mixture of vocals and call & response
choruses, a few personal and introspective tracks, which one can relate to.
The one shortcoming of Thug Misses is the regional base sound, gearing it
easily to the party and strip club scene. Nonetheless more so for it's
entertainment value, this debut secures a three out of five scratch rating,
that says it's a worthwhile buy. Ensuring the fire will never be put out;
Khia has completed the sophomore project and presently formulating ideas for the third. U.W.A.G and I deliver
