Initially, 50 Cent's 2007 album was supposed to be "Before I Self Destruct", however, he decided to push back its release date to 2008, and to release "Curtis" in 2007 instead. So here it is “Curtis”50 Cents third album under the mentor of Dr. Dre and Eminem. The album has been caught up in all the hype with “Graduation”Kanye Wests third album also. Its hard to talk about this album with out making references to Kanye Wests album “Graduation”. So first of all you cant compare these two artists music and style to each other as both come from different backgrounds and represent totally different sides of the rap game. So try not to get caught up in the 50 Cent is better than Kanye or vice versa. So lets check out the producers and featured artists on this album. The production was by the following Akon, Apex, Dangerous LLC, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Havoc, Jonathan Rotem, Polow Da Don, Swizz Beatz, Tha Bizness, The Neptunes, Timbaland, Ty Fyffe, and will.i.am. So 50 hasn’t gone at this half hearted with some of the top producers in the game producing this album. The featured artists are Akon, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Robin Thicke, Eminem, Nicole Scherzinger, Young Buck, Mary J. Blige and Ton
y Yayo. Im glad 50 hasn’t featured so many of his G-Unit soldiers in this album.
So lets talk on the tracks you have heard unlike Kanye50 has released more tracks from his album before it was released. Some where not supposed to be released like the Robin Thicke video got leaked. And 50 has taken legal action against Aftermath as he claimed they weren’t looking after his best interests. So the first track to be released of the album was “Straight to the Bank” on April 2nd 2007
This track was released awhile ago now but it was banging in the clubs and held that real vibe to it that 50 cent can pack into a track. A lot of people claimed the chorus by Tony Yayo laugh was to corny but it seemed to grow onto a lot of people. This was the first track from “Curtis” and all looked promising. But then he released the second track “Amusement Park” on May 8th 2007
For me this track was horrible im not going to lie. I thought this was just a poor excuse for a track and should have never been released as a single. With this being the second track to follow up to “Straight to the bank” I felt the album was doomed. So he had to come with something hard, and something to re state his claim and he dropped “I Get Money” on june 30th 2007
Now ok this track was all about 50 Cents wealth but that beat was hard and 50 just went on it and killed it for me. This was nothing short of a relief after dropping “Amusement Park”. With that said the album looked back on track to live up to the hype 50 has been giving it. Now the next track 50 dropped was nothing short of a classic track that every one will be jamming in there stereo’s and I-pods its called “Ayo Technology” Feat Justin Timberlake and Timbaland released on July 18th 2007.
This track is nothing short of #1 status I feel. It has everything a track that needs to hit the #1 spot needs. A top producer Timbaland a good rapper 50 Cent a catchy chorus by someone who can sing Justin Timberlake, it has the recipe for success. The track is the last to be released before the album drops and is a great introduction into the album. There are two more tracks set to be released after the release of the album they are “Follow My Lead” and “Come and Go” they can both be heard at the bottom of this review.
Im going to talk on some tracks you havnt heard, some of my favourites off the album. First up is "Peep Show" This track features Eminem. His verse is some what of a old Eminem something a bit disgusting but lyrically great. The flow holds down the hold track. 50 Cents verse’s are nothing out of this world but go with Eminem to make a good track. It was good to hear Eminem on something more his style last we heard of him was on the T.I. album. The next track im really liking on this album is called “Ill Still Kill” this track features Akon who seems to be on everyone’s albums. The chorus is something you just have to hear Akon does something a bit special on this track and with 50 cent on it, you have another big track worthy of single release.
So the overall feel of this album for me was some great production some good tracks and overall a good album. Although I don’t feel it had that feeling Kanye Wests album did. Kanyes album for me was better than this one although it was less tracks. This album has that club feeling to it that commercial feeling to it. Kanye’s had a message to it and ok its borderline commercial but Kanye still has that feel of true hip hop. Never the less 50 has dropped a great album here better than his previous album “The Massacre” this album packs a lot more to it. So the hot and not so hot tracks.
My Rating: 4.5 out of 6 Shots
Hot tracks: “Peep Show” “Ayo Technology” “All Of Me” “I Get Money” “I’ll Still Kill”

cmon guys dis album was gud, 50 may not b da best rapper out there but hes the most consistent, dis cd is packed wit mainly commercial tracks which downgrade it a bit, but tracks like "Man Down" "Ill Still Kill" show you dat he still gangsta and still a hustler deep inside, da commercial stuff is jus 4 money, neva forgetting dat hes lyrics are gettin betta each album, dont believe me?? listen to dis..... "Fuck boy, you can see it to believe it, try to dodge and weave it end up a paraplegic, believe me its easy, i hurt you, i merc you, i pop sumthing, drop sumthing, i aint gonna stop hunting...." aaaaahh dam dats sick all u 50 haters gotta admit it, 50 is arrogant, a lil 2 arrogant considering he not all dat skillfull but he makes up 4 his lack of wit and skill with his hunger, grimy rhymes and sick flow.. and dats cumin from sum1 who doesnt even rate him in my top 5 rappers at da moment
