Common is back with another album his 7th album and his newest one since 2005’s “Be”. He goes on to explain the title of the album Common explains that "Finding Forever really means to find a place in music where you can exist forever. Music can be forever if you make it from the heart, if you make it from the soul and it’s good. And I look at music like Bob Marley's or Marvin Gaye's or Stevie Wonder's or A Tribe Called Quest's, that's forever music. And I’m continuing on the quest to make forever music." Common confirmed early on that there would be a artist from the U.K featured on the album, all speculation was on MonKane as they had been seen together, But it is singer Lilly Allen. The album was leaked on July 19th But is not set to hit the stores till July 31st.
So the production of the album comes down to a few people Kanye West ,J Dilla (R.I.P) ,will.i.am, Devo Springsteen &Karriem Riggins. The album features artists such as Kanye West, Lilly Allen, Will.I.am, D-Angelo & bilal.
The whole idea behind this album is to make music that is going to last forever its commons quest to find forever music within his self. This album shows that Common has his own distinct style to the rap game,
and always there for the people always giving back to Hip-Hop. With his lyrics and his music. The combination of Kanye West and Common proves its self yet again on this album they work together and produce something you may have not heard before.
The hot tracks on this album for me are “The People” featured video, “Drivin Me Wild”, “The Game”.“The People” this track inspires any emcee or lyricist to give back to the people who have supported them threw there struggles. This track speaks volumes on how appreciative Common is to the people who have been there with him. “Drivin Me Wild” featuring Lilly Allen not your most predictable match up, but both work together, to make a very different but capturing track. “The Game” the video is inspired from the 8 Mile movie with Eminem but the track is also very powerful with Commons lyrics. He is describing to you how he sees the game and portrays it well.
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
