Kanye West has always had a confidence that has been perceived as arrogant. Yet he is back with this mixtape “Cant Tell Me Nothing” which makes a statement of its own. Kanye is still in preparation to drop his summer album “Graduation” which is due to drop august yet on the mixtape he talks of it being pushed forward all the time. This mixtape is something you may not have experienced from Kanye West. As Kanye doesn’t like to repeat styles and things he has done. He is always trying to create new things weather its sampling, producing or rapping, Kanye always seems to please. This mixtape is no exception to his previous work.
With all the featured artist there is on this mixtape it is hard for it to fall flat on its face without being noticed. Kanye features some of the artists songs that he has produced and work with them on, not necessarily performed on. The producers of this mixtape are Kanye him self and DJ Toomp who is known for working with T.I. The main feature of this album is the released single “Cant Tell Me Nothing” which is also of the up coming album “Graduation”.
Now getting into the actual tracks and some of the hot ones, on this mixtape im going to pick out some of my favourite tracks of this mixtape and explain a bit about them. The hottest tracks for me are “Stronger (snippet)” “Us Placers” “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” “Pro Nails” and “Because Of You (Remix)”. All these tracks are original and hold there own. The “Stronger (Snippet)” Ok its another sample song, but it has the making of a club banger. Kanye has remixed it as always to become a huge hit like the other tracks he has sampled. “Us Placers” Featuring Lupe And Pharell this track holds its own swagger and with the lyrical capabilities of these three on one track, it makes for great listening. “Cant Tell Me Nothing” the feature track and name of the mixtape. This track seems to have Kanye caught between he claim to fame and where he has come from. “Pro Nails” Track has this catchy flow threw it and gets recognised for it and the female rapper Kid Sister nice track. Finally “Because Of You (Remix)” This should be officially released if you ask me. This track is better than the orginal I dare to say it’s a shame we only get a snippet.
My over all view of this mixtape is it has a cool feel to it. my overall rating is 7/10
