Juve the Great is the seventh solo album from Juvenile, the original hot boy representing the Magnolia. This project marks the reunion of Juvenile with Cash Money Records since their temporary falling out. Juve the Great can be considered Juvenile’s best LP and demonstrates why he has been able to remain in the game since 1995.

Fans of the dirty south will appreciate the fact the Juvenile reverts back to his original style and spits raw game over infectious beats provided by Mannie Fresh (In My Life, Bounce Back, It Ain’t Mines, Lil Daddy, and Cock It), Griz (Enemy Turf, Down South Posted, and Numb Numb) and Slice T (F***N’ With Me and Head in Advance). Juve the Great has a running time of 60 minutes and has 17 tracks, which includes an intro and 3 skits. The album tends to lean away from the bling’n/ club’n songs and more towards street/hustla themes. Juvenile also steps of his rhyme game, his lyrics are a bit more complex, but a lot more meaningful and deeper. The hot boy rides solo over most of the album; only 5 songs have guest appearances.

The lead off single is the Mannie Fresh produced In My Life. This track is probably the most braggadocios song on the album. Enemy Turf is vivid tail of the evils that one faces when involved in the hustle in game. Bounce Back is definitely one of the ho ttest songs on the album. It is a classic Cash Money joint with Mannie Fresh on the beat and Baby spitting fire along side Juvenile. This songs serves as a ray of hope and a inspiration to overcome the struggles in the hood. Down South Posted is a glimpse into a day in the life of Juvenile and his UTP crew. It is placed over a mellow beat with a bounce and features Wacko and Skip. It Ain’t Mines has one of Mannie Fresh’s most pimped out beats over which Juve answers back against hood rats trying to trap a brother with a baby that ain’t his. Numb Numb is a raw track with a grimy RZA like beat in which Juvenile expresses the love hate relationship involved with hustling narcotics. Lil Daddy, F***N’ With Me, and Cock It are all up tempo tracks that posses a bounce that is suited to ride to. Juve the Great, which is the title song, is probably one of the most standout songs on the album. On the track Juve lyrical paints his biography and tries to justy the title of Juve the Great. Slow Motion is a hot collabo with Soulja Slim that is a somewhat of a slow jam dedicated to the females.

Overall the album is solid. For those who are fans of the dirty the album is a must get and for others it is worth checking out. On the album Juvenile manages to stay true to his original fan base while evolving his style to appeal to new fans.

Verse 1 from Bounce Back

You ever had corns on your fingers from squeezing the mack to much

Nigga be rob'n the dice game and the wack do up

Stripping stolen strip cars for a living

Stayed away from home when ever they was bitchin

We used to rush the customers for sales when they pull up in cars

Untill undercovers started putting us behind bars

Menace to society is all we watch

In the back seat straped with the throw away glocks

I got some partners in the business never seeing the light

Your people would got ya Cochren if your cheese be right

You know i've be holding it down playa you a dog

I'm a real nigga I ain't gonna stop accepting your phone call

I'm a blow and toss a hoe for you, like I'm supposed to do

I'm serious and focused to you, know I am over do

The first nigga to park a rose royce in the bricks

While I fly private jet out of town by a bitch
