Bussa Bus – a lot of fuss
Yeah, he’s back, Busta Rhymes, with his solo-joint no. 4. After “The Coming”, “When Disaster Strikes”, “E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event)”, it’s now something like “Anarchy” he proclaims. With his pessimistic foresights (those album titles have at least got some coherence!), Busta Rhymes always tells us what’s going to happen, and in the 21st century, Anarchy seems to be rather impossible. A slight disorientation of (perhaps) himself and of his fans and listeners make us wonder what this new record is all about.

“Anarchy” is like “Busta Rhymes volume four”, no more, no less. Same ol’ thing, Busta Rhymes’ rhymestyle is still the same, we don’t need to discuss about this, whether you like him or not, it depends on you, you gotta love this guy if you love his records or you gotta hate him, his style represents an extreme, nothing like standard. As mentioned, you love or you hate it, it’s a question of your personal taste and preferences. Busta kicks nothing new, it’s still him and nobody else. Perhaps that’s his problem, his extreme distinguishable style becomes standard, and the production is not able to give his style a lift to the next level.

The featured artists are composed on the one hand of Busta’s clique, the Flipmode Squad, Roc Marciano appears on a track solo but he’s a Flipmode-member, too. On the other hand, there are several hip hop-big shots and others on this record: Raekwon the Chef and Ghostface Killah, two of the Wu-Tang’s finest, and they perform in a good ma nner. Then we come up to Lenny Kravitz: He plays guitar and supports Busta Rhymes, and this combined with a Rockwilder-produced Beat. I pretend this must be something commercial, because Lenny Kravitz’ guitarplay is (here) not really kind of that level of difficulty only a man like Lenny Kravitz is able to play. It’s not a hard part, and the name Lenny Kravitz just covers another field of music and of interested people: music sells! M.O.P. appear too, and they’re responsible for one of the best tracks of the record: “Ready For War”, produced by Busta himself, shows us how to combine a rough beat, a smooth sample and even rougher voices. DMX and Jay-Z perform on “Why We Die”. A beat that must not be mentioned, you’ve already heard hundreds of this kind of style. DMX (“Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!”) and Jigga, well, two of the best, but not supported by music. In fact, this is the most negative point: the music. Swizz Beats just gets boring because he did a million tracks in the last six months, Ruff Ryders beats in common, well, you must like ‘em, then you like this record, if not, better watch out for something else.

The best tracks are “Ready For War” feat. M.O.P. and “Show Me What You Got” produced by Jay Dee (by the way, he’s on this record responsible for almost all the tracks who are able to surprise and to satisfy). Well, Busta Rhymes no. 4 is nothing new, if you like him, you gotta have this one, if you don’t like him, better check it out first in the store, because 4 or 5 well-done tracks out of 22 is a bit poor. But this has nothing to do with the artist, he just doesn’t change, and the music is not able to give him always a good platform. By the way, do you remember Jay-Z’s anything? Busta Rhymes’ first single out of the record, “Get Out!” has got a hook sung by children, I think we heard this some time(s) before… (Emm)
